When we complicate our role in the kingdom, I truly believe we miss some things. We miss the mundane of the day, the streaks of color across the sky, or the details in the mountain. We naturally overlook the small details, because we want to make these big atomic impacts based on our agenda. However, when we do this, when we overlook the small details and choose to only look far out to the horizon and we miss more than things, we miss people. We miss human souls.

I know, because I did this.

I placed other things onto my agenda when first arriving here in Swaziland, hoping that I could make my own impact by providing some form of nursing at the care points with the children. Was it a selfish choice? Not necessarily, because it still would help people, however the drive behind it was to attain a lack I was feeling. A lack of myself and the purpose that nursing provides to me, a purpose filling that God truly desires to pour over me instead.

And He showed me that, in the time I spent at the care point here with Adventures in Missions Swaziland. I saw children full of His love, but poor of this world. I heard stories of mourning and loss, and the obvious poverty around. I saw the pure intentions as the children pray, obviously seeing God. It was clear, this is what Jesus was talking about in Matthew 5, with the Sermon on the Mount. The beatitudes… and the Kingdom of Heaven that is amongst us.

And when I realized that, oof… I couldn’t slow down with this edit.

I’ll let His word speak for it now, and expect a full blog shortly.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Matthew 5:2-12

  1. OKAY
    SO GOOD

this might be my favorite video. Matthew 5, so powerful. The sweet little faces, ugh.

Also, you have obvious video talent, but I also love what you write, can’t wait for the full blog

  2. Those words of Jesus continually inspire me. Thanks for bringing them alive afresh.

  3. Putting pictures to the beattitudes helped illustrate at a deeper level just what they mean….and what you’ve been doing on the WR. Thanks! Great memories of ministry and the impact it will have on the Kingdom!
