FRIENDS FAMILY AND EXTENDED FAMILY.
I wanted to put together a cute little, elementary style Q&A… but in the who-what-when-where-why fashion. Does that work?…I guess we will see or not Haha!
WHO is going on this trip?
A whole bunch of strangers!! … but seriously. At this point in the journey of preparing for this trip I have only had the luxury of meeting two girls that are on my squad. Squad is a term that I will be using a lot, because that is the term used to describe our group of individuals (25-35 people) who will be traveling the Global South Route. At this point the application is still open for our route (APPLY IF YOU WANNA!!), so the exact number of people on our squad may vary.
WHAT is the World Race even? WHAT will you be doing?
The World Race is a program through Adventures in Missions that sends young adults on an 11-months, 11-country mission trip. My team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities around the world with the goal of bringing the Gospel and Jesus’ love around the world. Our ministry will be anything from preaching, planting churches, working in orphanages, ministering to women and children trapped in prostitution because of human trafficking, and bring hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. For me and my team specifically, our mission field will be Global South route ( more details in the “where” questions)
WHEN?
BIG QUESTION. So when I posted my last update a lot of people were under the impression that I was going to leave within weeks. Not true, rest assured. At the beginning of July, our squad, will meet in Georgia at Adventures in Missions headquarters for an 11 day training camp. From there, I will return back to Utah to collect/store up my things, and then prepare to launch to South America the beginning of August 2021.
WHERE?
Favorite question! Our squad will be on the route called GLOBAL SOUTH. This route takes us along South American countries, Southern Africa, and South Asia. Below for a nice lil’ visual 😉 Because of Covid, the exact locations that we will be going are dependent on the access that we will have to travel to and from countries. Each region will have a HUB COUNTRY with a host that the WR (world race) has deep relationship with. These hosts will work with our squad to helps us to mobilize and meet the needs to surrounding countries! That is the the thing that I love so much about Adventures in Mission. The places that we travel to have hosts that we as missionaries get to come and support during our month there, but when we leave that country the ministry still remains right where it is for that country.
HOW do you support!?
The greatest support that you can give to me over this preparation phase, and during the 11-months is PRAYER. Prayer for myself and my team to have an open mind and heart for everything and everyone that we will cross paths with. We will need courage to step out of each of our comfort zones to serve as His hands and feet. In addition to prayer support, I am needing to raise $18,700 over the next year. This will cover the cost of ALL transportation, food, housing, insurance, and other miscellaneous costs. I encourage you to prayerfully consider supporting me during this journey! All donations are tax deductible, and in your donation it will help me follow what God is leading me into!
WHY?
I will say, this one is a loaded question and going to be a lot longer than one paragraph here, but will instead be a separate blog/video. In a nutshell, God has been working on this since 2016 when I gave my life to Him, and He instantaneously rattled this desire of mine to serve the nations. When I was preparing to move to Utah for nursing school, a friend of mine from church in VA, was preparing for her route on the WR. This had been the first time I had ever heard of it and I was blown away. Something like this exists?!! However at that time I was not in the headspace to go. My motivation was more driven by the places that I would get to go, rather than the purpose being for His ultimate glory. Over the years, my desire for world mission deepened though… especially this idea of abandoning everything of my life for Him and Him alone. Which in my opinion is the exact place He was leading me to during the past five years. Full surrender and abandonment, and learning to live in this minimalistic way. So there I was face to face with the application yet again, but this time I finally clicked submit… which was followed by this immense weight and peace. I knew it was the time, because too many tangible things were aligning to claim it to be some sort of “coincidence”. He has called me to COME, so therefore I will do so wherever the World Race Global South may take me.

I enjoyed learning about how you ended up applying. God’s timing is perfect!
